The next KAL meeting is Sunday, April 21th at the Chicago Cultural Center. All knitters are welcome, even if you are just starting the KAL Greenway Shawl project (see below) or would prefer to work on your own project.
If you are not interested in knitting the Greenway Shawl, you might like to try Chrysalis by Carol Sunday of Sunday Knits. Chrysalis is an over-sized cocoon-shaped shrug with a beautiful art deco-inspired allover lace pattern and is available for purchase on Ravelry.
Our first Knit-A-Long of the year was a rousing success, so we’re starting another! This time we’ve selected the Greenway Shawl by Kirsten Hipsky. You can find details about the pattern and how to buy it at WEBS yarn store and on Ravelry.
Pattern description: A modern, clean-edged shawl where sleek, biased mesh contrasts with rectangular beds of floral lace. Simple garter stitch wedges at the corners eliminate the need to increase in pattern while giving an uncommon, graphic shape to the shawl.
Finished Size: about 66” wide x 22” deep
Yarn: 800 yards of lace weight (merino/tencel blend used in pattern)
Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) needles or size needed to get gauge
Other materials: 2 stitch markers in color A, 4 stitch markers in color B
Gauge: About 6 sts = 1” in St st
The KAL will begin on Sunday, March 10th, at the Cultural Center, 78 E Washington St., Chicago from 1:00 – 4:00 PM.
Please join us to knit and snack even if you’re not knitting the shawl–Participation in the KAL is not a requirement! Look for us at the large table in the foyer on the Randolph Street entrance.
