WCKG Monthly Meeting – June
June 18 @ 6:45 pm - 8:45 pm| Free
Featured Program: From Knitting to Art–Making the Transition
Knitters are always learning new skills, experimenting with yarn, colors, patterns, needles, and challenging mathematical calculations to produce garments and accessories for themselves and others. How do you take those skills and create unique pieces of personal art? We’ll go over the process of taking knitting to a different level by combining the skills that you already have with the inspiration found around us to produce unique art with knitting as the perfect medium. We’ll review where to find inspiration, how to develop a process to channel your thoughts and skills, determine a message, and create art by knitting.
Linda learned to knit from a baby sitter when she was in 3rd grade making lots of doll clothes. By 1990 she was attending Meg Swansen’s knitting camp and a whole new world opened up. Combined with lots of art courses, Linda enjoys the creativity process and exploring new directions in fiber arts. Linda has a BA in Anthropology/Sociology and an MS in Natural Resources. She currently loves to teach knitting at Three Bags Full Knitting Studio in Northbrook where her next new project is just about ready to cast on.
