When did you first start knitting/why?
Age 8 or 9? I liked crafts
Who taught you to knit?
Next door neighbor’s babysitter
Do you knit English/American style, German/Continental style, backwards? Left-handed? Eastern cross method? Peruvian-style? please describe.
I think it’s called Eastern European? I throw my yarn, but knit and purl “backwards” (or so I’ve been told)
Do you have a knitting philosophy, and what is it. What helped you form your philosophy?
“Go for it” and “Ripping is part of Knitting”
Have you ever taught someone to knit?
Yes, including my left-handed granddaughter who now knits right-handed!
What is your very favorite knitting book and why?
Whichever one has the answer I need at the time.
Do you knit for a living/have your own business? Tell us about it.
If so, I would be STARVING.
What projects are you working on now?
A surprise vest for my husband, a surprise shrug for a friend just finishing chemo, and several UFO’s for me!
What is your very favorite yarn?Usually natural fibers but every now and then some “glam”
What is the best thing you ever knit?
An old Vogue pattern; twisted rib, and a challenge for me at that time
What is the worst thing you ever knit?
Some of my earlier sweaters but I still respect them
Why do you like to knit?
Great way to “zone out” and not feel so guilty watching old movies on TV
When do you knit?
Whenever I can, wherever I can…..even “think knitting” when I am laying in bed
What is your favorite part of the knitting process?
Finishing, including seams and weaving in ends! And then sewing in the label saying “Hand Knit by Barbara Provus”
How long have you been knitting?
Very obsessed with it the last 6 years or so
Do you engage in other Fiber Arts?
I am going to take sewing lessons this summer…..pray for me
