YarnCon Needs a Few Good Yarn Addicts
Plans for the second annual YarnCon are underway, and we are looking for yarn lovers like you to be a part of it. Along with our fantastic vendors, we want to host workshops and demonstrations, and we think the Windy City Knitting Guild has a lot to offer on all fronts. Do you have a skill you would like to share? Do you want to help spread the word about the WCKG to knitters from around the region who might not be familiar with our organization? Do you want to hang out with Polly E. Cotton? If you have answered yes to any of the above, or have new ideas to share with us, please contact Sara and Natalia at info@yarnygoodness.com or 773.241.6329. You can find more details at www.yarncon.com.
What is YarnCon? YarnCon is Chicago's own yarn-centric exhibition. YarnCon aims to be the premier market for independent producers of yarn, knitted/crocheted objects, fiber for spinning, tools, gadgets, books, patterns, instructions, and gifts related to spinning, knitting, crochet, and weaving. For our first year we had Chicago area artisans, including members of the WCKG, along with book signings by Susan Strawn, author of Knitting America, Shannon Okey, author of many books including Spin to Knit, and Nikol Lohr, author of Naughty Needles, and the force behind Yarn School. We were honored to have Franklin Habit there for a photo shoot for his 1000 Knitters Project, and workshops lead by Arcadia Knitting, Vera Videnovich, and Kris Neurauter. We want YarnCon to be an annual destination for people who love to work with yarn, and we can do it with your help.
